Esapro Control

To manage the safety of photovoltaic systems, we rely on the services of our subsidiary Esapro Control, the first Italian entity totally dedicated to the safety of photovoltaic systems.

Esapro Control is a company wholly controlled by ESAPRO and authorised since 2010 by the Prefecture of Padua to provide remote monitoring and alarm management services for the protection of energy plants and/or energy infrastructures distributed throughout Italy. ESAPRO CONTROL is certified as a provider of security and video surveillance services in accordance with the UNI (Italian Standards Body) 10891:2000 standard.

Carefully selected and qualified local patrol agencies are responsible for responding to alarms and carrying out patrols when necessary. Our 24/7 Operations Centre is run by a highly experienced, first-class management team, accustomed to constant dialogue with police forces and territory protection forces, and personally involved in the selection of local surveillance centres and unarmed security guards (Art. 138 TULPS – Italian Consolidated Text of Public Security Laws) according to strict criteria of proximity, organisation and lawfulness.

Esapro Control currently protects more than 630 MW of installed capacity, i.e. the assets of over 50 clients, including private entrepreneurs, industrial groups and financial investors, comprising more than 100 MW and multi-MW ground-mounted photovoltaic systems throughout Italy.

24/7 Operations Centre

Esapro Control’s 24/7 Operations Centre is based in San Pietro in Gu (Padova) and is operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

It is the result of almost 10 years of continuous investment in technology to support and complement traditional alarm management, intervention following alarms and patrolling activities.

Our centralised and automated service enables us to analyse and process the data collected by the sensors and cameras (daylight and/or thermal) installed in the field. The visual or acoustic alarms coming from the intrusion prevention systems are sent to the Operations Centre through a primary connection vector and a secondary backup vector. Our operators analyse each report and are able to interpret dynamic situations in relation to the environment and accurately determine the location of objects, people, machinery and vehicles inside or outside the perimeter of the system, thereby minimising false alarms and inefficient responses.

In the event of an intrusion, vandalism or other types of damage, they inform the local surveillance centres and unarmed security guards (Art. 138 TULPS- Italian Consolidated Text of Public Security Laws), who are selected according to strict criteria of proximity, organisation and lawfulness.

Every single activity or event is tracked and reports with snapshots/video clips and bookmarks are generated to help clients maintain a transparent and effective relationship with insurance companies in the event of a claim.

The future of security for photovoltaic systems

We are always looking for useful solutions to further automate our security, monitoring and inspection services for photovoltaic plants. We strongly believe that in the short and medium term we will be able to use robotic workforce elements interfaced with the 24/7 Operations Centre, including:

– UAV, or RPAS and/or flying drones to carry out visual inspections as well as thermal inspections in the event of alarms, both during construction and during the management and physical protection of the system;

– ROVERS, or land drones, to patrol the sites, providing monitoring and physical protection of the system/site.
