UV-F analysis
Ultraviolet spectroscopy
We carry out UV-F analysis, i.e. ultraviolet fluorescence analysis, to detect chromophores, which are products resulting from the decomposition of the polymer encapsulating the glass or the backsheet (generally EVA – ethylene vinyl acetate), before they become visible to the naked eye. This specialist analysis is used to assess the ageing effects of the encapsulating polymer, the moisture and oxygen permeability of the module, the presence and history of any micro cracks in the cells (not visible with thermographic analysis) and corrosion phenomena affecting the busbars.
UV-F analysis is especially recommended in the following cases:
- following hail
- underperforming system
- problems resulting from poor insulation
- aesthetic anomalies (“snail slime”, ribbon oxidation, backsheet not intact, yellowing of the module, etc.)
UV-F analysis can be carried out at any time of year, although it is mainly recommended to perform it at night.
